January 30- Arctic Doug Travel Reply

Here is a closer look at the area we will be working. We will fly into Edmonton tonight. Tomorrow we will fly to Inuvik with, a brief stop-over in Yellowknife, where we will be joined by our sound recordist Terry. Terry lives in Yellowknife and one of his favorite things to do is to take his dogteam running. When I spoke with him last week he had just returned from a camping trip with his dogs. He says the perfect day for him is -20f and sunny! If it’s much colder things begin to break and he has to worry about his dogs getting colder. If it’s much warmer the dogs can overheat as they pull the sled.

Hopefully I’ll get Terry to post a few times during the trip. I think we could all learn quite a bit from him on this trip because he’s lived in the Northwest Territories for a long time!

Hi Doug....
THANK YOU for writing back. We were wondering about Terry- is he an Inuit? Does he speak English? We hope you can take a picture of him and his dogs and send it to us soon.
We were also wondering how exactly do you take care of sled dogs? See what Terry says.
Is it snowing in the NW Territories because down here we got about 10 inches of snow! We had a SNOWDAY!!!!!!!
We had an exciting return this morning where we voted for our new school mascot... too bad one of the cadidates was not a sled dog. Are you voting tomorrow Doug or have you mailed in your absentee ballot?
